Holding this funky heart painting reminds me why I fell in love with the creative process. I’ve always been obsessed with diving deeply into things to gain a full understanding of whatever I’m doing — especially when it pertains to artistic endeavors.

Learning what’s “correct” gives you the freedom to bend, stretch, and reshape the rules into something deeply personal. It’s not just about precision — it’s about feeling. Just like choosing to let watercolor bleed outside the lines or purposely muddying a line of operatic recitative when your character is intoxicated, it’s in those choices where the art really lives.

I sure felt West Palm Beach’s warm embrace today at the 15th Annual Downtown West Palm Beach Art Festival, organized by @artfestivals. Thank you to all who stopped by my gallery in @cityplacewestpalm today, and to the multitude of kind hearted folks that shared their expert tips (@janetdesigns), muscles (@geoffhahn ), and turbo powered fans to cool my baby bump in preparation of my first Florida fine art festival.

You still have one more day to shop my watercolor originals and prints in person. Come snag what’s left (heart themed pop art pieces in particular have been flying off the walls ❤️ 💜 💚)! I’m excited to showcase my watercolor collection at the 15th Annual Downtown West Palm Beach Art Festival in the beautiful CityPlace district - April 5 & 6! ✨

This series, inspired by the upcoming arrival of our baby boy and the renewal of spring, celebrates the beauty of birth, love, and new beginnings. However, this collection extends far beyond childhood spaces, as its aim is to ignite creativity in everyone.

Fueled by a wish to surround our little one with color and imagination, I hope these pieces resonate with you as a tribute to life, love, and the limitless possibilities of creation.

For now his nursery is filled with watercolor paintings made by his mom, but they’re just a placeholder until the time comes when he picks up the brush or crayon of his choosing and lets his imagination run wild!

The Silver Swan 🦢

The first song my late voice teacher in college assigned me was “The Silver Swan” by Ned Rorem. The melody felt like the most beautiful pearl, tucked away until the moment it was meant to be found.

“The silver swan, who living had no note,
When death approached, unlocked her silent throat;
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
Thus sung her first and last, and sung no more:
“Farewell, all joys; Oh death, come close mine eyes;
More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise.”
